Did you know every March Earth Hour takes place? To find out some brief facts about Earth Hour read below.

1. What is Earth Hour?
Earth Hour is a charitable organisation, and open source movement coordinated by WWF and volunteer organisations worldwide.  Earth Hour’s mission is uniting people to protect the planet.

2. Is an Earth Hour an event?
Earth Hour is more than an event. It is a movement. Over the last 10 years, Earth Hour has achieved massive environmental impact. Together with the support of individuals, organisations and groups Earth Hour has helped to change laws, lives and our planet!

3. When did Earth Hour first begin?
Earth Hour was famously started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007.  Since then it has grown to engage more than 172 countries and territories worldwide.

4. When is Earth Hour taking place in 2017?
Earth Hour is taking place on Saturday 25th March from 8:30pm to 9:30pm (just 1 hour).

5. What happens on this day?
Every year Earth Hour has a new theme it focuses its campaign around, from changing laws to funding solar-powered homes. This year, Earth Hour will be making noise for climate change action.  Millions of people, businesses and landmarks will set aside one hour to show their support by organising a variety of events across the country.

Switching off the lights is a symbolic show of global support to protect our amazing planet.  It sends a clear message to business leaders and politicians that we want action to be taken on climate change now!

    • Star gazing with the family
    • No PS4 for 60 minutes (relax the time will fly by)
    • Play a boardgame, share some jokes or play charades
    • Or simply just switch off the lights and sit together in candlelight and have a good old family chat
